Beta sign-ups for Hell Let Loose: Vietnam opened April 17, 2026 — then token errors hit. What the FirstLook invite emails meant and how the team responded.

Registration opened to far more recruits than FirstLook expected.

Team17 and Expression Games opened beta registration for Hell Let Loose: Vietnam on April 17, 2026, and within days the signup flow itself became the story. Invitation emails went out on April 22 — but a chunk of recruits who clicked through were greeted by an error instead of a billet: "You have been invited to enlist. Accept the invitation. Error verifying token 500 — internal server error."

What the community manager confirmed

The response came through the game's Discord, where the community manager laid out what was happening: the FirstLook platform handling registrations had been flooded by the sheer number of recruits. Follow-up emails were already going out containing a link to the full registration form, and anyone hoping to make the first beta wave needed to complete that form on FirstLook once it arrived.

The flow, as described: complete the FirstLook registration form, and if you're selected for the first round of testing, a second email follows with instructions for downloading the Steam build. Simple in shape — it was the traffic that broke it.

Why the crowd was predictable

Registration appetite was never going to be a problem for this title. The original Hell Let Loose spent five years building one of the most loyal niche audiences in the genre, and the Vietnam setting pulled in curious newcomers on top. A first beta invite wave was always going to be oversubscribed.

The 500-token errors faded as FirstLook stabilized, and the registration window stayed open into the run-up to the May open beta weekend. If you signed up in April and never got picked for round one, the later playtests — including the July crossplay test — drew from the same pool.

Where the beta story went next

Registration was only the opening act. The playtest timeline that followed: the open beta weekend in late May, then a crossplay test in July that brought console players in for the first time. Both are covered in depth on our evergreen pages.
